Exercises for Strengthening Internal Organs, Part 1

Form 1
Sitting Exercise for Strengthening the Heart

. Sit upright on a stool, feet on floor and shoulder-width apart. Pound arms and body30 times with either fist. Raise one hand overhead, palm up and fingers pointing backward, while other palm presses down, fingers pointing forward. Change hands. Eight reps, each in a gentle breath, inhaling thru nose and exhaling thru mouth. Hold right foot with fingers interlocked and try to stretch leg six times. Do the same with left foot. Strike upper and lower teeth 30 times, and gargle mouth with saliva before you swallow it. Long meditation with eyes closed.

As a curefor palpitation, choking sensation in chest, and short breathing caused by pathogentic wind (see footnote on p. 8).

Form 2
Sitting Exercise for Strengthening the Lungs

Sit upright on a mat with legs crossed in front. Bend trunk forward until hands touch floor. Straighten the trunk and raise arms, palms up and fingers pointing backward. Three reps. Pound upper back with back of fists 32 times and lower back another 32 times. Strike upper and lower teeth and swallow saliva. Long meditation with eyes closed.

For disorder in lungs caused by pathogenic wind.

Form 3
Sitting Exercise for Strengthening the Liver

. Sit upright with legs crossed, overlying palms on lower belly. Turn trunk forcefully to left and right 15 times. Join hands with fingers interlocked and push palms forward 7 or 8 times.

For disorders in liver caused by pathogenic wind.
