The Shelter Blog has been inactive since May, 2019. Too much to do! From this point on, Lloyd’s Blog will have the buildings, vehicles, and home-related posts such as what has previously appeared here. Go to lloydkahn.com.

Louie's Cabin in the Woods

Built on pilings because it’s in a flood plain. One year the water came up to the 6th step. Photo by Lloyd Kahn

Had breakfast with Louie this morning in town and he told me that his shop was flooded in the last rains (18″ of water!) so he stayed at his cabin across the river. I, thinking of my own concerns during those rains, asked him ‘Did you have enough wood to keep warm?’ After seeing this photo, I understand why he looked at me askance. Of course, Louie would have enough wood…..me? Not so much.
